Proposal of a UK & Ireland Single Ventricle Registry
Paul Clift and colleagues from Birmingham have successfully obtained funding to develop a UK and Ireland Single Ventricle Registry. A launch meeting will be held in Birmingham on the 6th June to discuss how this could be developed and all centres are invited to send representatives.
(If your centre is not currently represented at this launch meeting, please be encouraged to register as soon as possible as the event is fast approaching). This is the day before the annual Birmingham workshop meeting on the 7th June which is also on the single ventricle. Little Heart Matters and the BCCA both strongly support this initiative for us all to collaborate. Invitations to both the Registry meeting and the Birmingham workshop are enclosed. Please view these enclosures.

Sponsorship scheme for overseas cardiologists and cardiac surgeons
Just a reminder that applications are open for 2019 and deadline for applications is fast approaching! The Children’s Heart Disease Trust, an Edinburgh based charity, fund this sponsorship scheme for overseas cardiologists and cardiac surgeons. This scheme was launched in May 2016 and is run from the British Congenital Cardiac Association (BCCA) platform. The charity will support applicants to spend up to four weeks visiting clinical centres in the UK to develop their knowledge and skills. To date the charity supports work and training with children with heart disease and not adults. A sum of up to £5,000 per annum is available, initially for five consecutive years. Recipients of this award will be encouraged to attend the Annual meeting of the BCCA during their time in the UK. Any UK based consultant cardiologist or cardiac surgeon, who is a member of the BCCA, will be eligible to sponsor a consultant level doctor from overseas.
The 2019 application deadline is 5pm, next Friday 17 May 2019. Applicants and their UK sponsors will be informed of BCCA Council's decision following the next BCCA Council meeting held in June.
