Dates: |
17 November 2018 To
19 November 2018
|
Duration: |
3 Days |
Description: |
The course organised by the UCL Institute of Cardiovascular Science starts from basic principles & normal anatomy, so is suitable for staff from any specialty wishing to improve their knowledge of congenital heart malformations by observing anatomy first hand (object-based learning).
The aim of this 3-day course is to allow for informal, small group discussion about the anatomy of congenital heart malformations, both in theory and by practical examination of specimens. By the end of the course, participants should be comfortable with the anatomy of the major groups of congenital heart disease and be able to analyse hearts in a sequential segmental fashion.
** Spaces are limited for each course to allow for more personal tuition and greater time to examine anatomy at your own pace **
Topics include:
Principle of sequential segmental analysis
Detailed normal anatomy
Septal defects (ASD, VSD, AVSD)
Outflow tract abnormalities: tetralogy of fallot, double outlet ventricle, transposition, arch abnormalities
Valvar abnormalities (Ebstein's malformation, arterial valvar stenosis)
